Ron Kanter
Ron Kanter's productions have been seen nationally on PBS, CBS, and cable, and internationally through FR3 in France. His experimental documentary about kids in the juvenile justice system, Acting Out, premiered at the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema and was shown locally on WYBE, Channel 35.
Ron has received two Emmy's, the Pennsylvania Associated Press Award, the American Film Festival Red Ribbon, the International Film & Television Festival of New York Gold Award, and the National Council for Educational Writing Broadcast Award.
A grant from the National Endowment for the Arts funded a film entitled, Life and Death - Dawson, Georgia. Broadcast nationally on PBS, the New York Times called it "remarkable," and TV Guide said it was "the most notable program on the schedule."
Other honors include a Media Arts grant for scriptwriting from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a Cine Golden Eagle, and a citation from the National Council on Family Relations. Three One Act Plays, received both the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Local Program Award for Drama, and the Ohio State Award. His production of the Philadelphia Folk Festival won the CPB Local Program Award for Music.
From 1980 through 1984, Ron was the Executive Producer of WHYY-TV, the Philadelphia public television station. He supervised all of the station's local production including a daily, half-hour newscast and produced or developed national programs. From 1974 to 1976, he served as Director of Film Services for the New Jersey Network where he was responsible for all news and documentary production.
His corporate client list includes numerous Fortune 500 companies including Prudential Securities, Random House, McGraw-Hill, Learning Corporation of America, Chemical Bank, Glaxo Pharmaceuticals, Seagram, Eastman Kodak, Mellon Bank, Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company, Rohm and Haas, and Scott Paper.
Ron has also served public institutions and agencies including the National Institutes of Health, Wood Turning Center, Pollution Control Financing Authority of Camden County, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Morris Arboretum, Fabric Workshop and Museum, University of Pennsylvania Center for Studies of Addiction, Temple University, the State of New Jersey, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

He is married to Evvy Edinburg, a Speech Language Pathologist in private practice and has one son, Max, who works for Amazon.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with an MFA in Fine Art, he holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Temple University. He currently holds the position of Visiting Professor of Documentary Production at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
Video/Film Associates creates programs about the arts, education, and social issues. Recent projects include a documentary about a tribe in Papua New Guinea, a children's special about the Pennsylvania Ballet, an informed consent video for participants in HIV vaccine research, and an experimental documentary which used improvisational theater to enable kids in the Juvenile Justice system to speak for themselves. Video/Film Associates was established by two-time Emmy Award winner Ron Kanter. Ron shoots on state-of-the-art digital cameras and edits in the company's fully equipped, Avid non linear editing suite. Video/Film Associates is located in a large loft building in center city Philadelphia.
